A severe ocean storm has killed more than 70 people in south-eastern China. At least 80 people are reported missing. Official in Fujian province said the storm hit land Saturday near the coastal Fuzhou. They say it caused at least 400 million US$ in damages. It destroyed tens of thousands of hectares of farmland and thousands of tons of grain. The storm hit Taiwan earlier, at least 12 people died there. Several more are missing.
