Darrell Winfield was watching the crew set up the equipment. The scene included an actor crossing a river on horseback, but when the time came to shoot, the man was too drunk to ride. W: Well, I don’t know. That’ll be for you to decide.

M: Good. I’ve got a new dish that I want to try out.

W: Fine. I’ll see you then.

  M: Thanks. Goodbye.

  Text 9

  W: Look ! It’s snowing.

M: Yes, but it’s terribly cold today. I’m glad I have my overcoat on.

W: There is ice on the lake, too. We’ll be able to go skating this weekend.

M: Not if it’s too windy. Come on! Let’s go back. I’m freezing.

W: You’ll just have to learn to like it. The weather in Ottawa will be like this for the next three months.

M: Yes, I know, but I wish it were shorter here.

  Text 10

April 7th marks United Nations Health Day. Today children in developing countries are taking more and more responsibilities for the health of their brothers and sisters and other children in the community. “Child to Child”, a group based in London, has spent ten years promoting the idea of children helping other children to learn about good health.

The Child to Child activities are fun and children enjoy taking part in them. In addition, children can do a GREat deal in the home too. For example, they can help to improve personal health simply by ensuring that the younger children are kept clean. They also learn how to deal with accidents, such as treating bums or cuts.

Child to Child already send out thousands of sets of their resource materials worldwide and are building up a resource center so that they can share information with the other groups working in the same area or country.

One possible version

Dec. 10th 1999

Dear John:

I got my tickets this morning. I’ll take Flight CA368 to fly to London on December 21 st. The plane takes off at eight o’clock in the evening. It stops in Hongkong for half an hour. Then it continues its journey and arrives in London at 8: 00 the next morning. That’s Dec. 22nd.

I’ll have to wait about 2 hours in London to change planes. The Flight number is BA 163. It takes about one hour to fly from London to Glasgow, so I will arrive in Glasgow at about 11: 00 in the morning. There are just about eleven days before my trip to Britain. I’m very excited ! I can’t wait to see you !

  Yours

  Li Ming
