In Vermont there lived a little boy named Billy who was always unlucky.Because of this he had no friends. His birthday was coming up, so his popular brother,Dan,gave Billy a“lucky charm(护身符)”.This“charm”was nothing more than a rock, but Billy never let go of it.
The next day at school he got an A on a test no one even passed. At once he started making friends.
One day Dan slipped(使滑动) the rock out of Billy's bag. That was the day of the big history test. Thinking he had his rock,Billy passed the test and made even more friends. On the way home, Dan asked about his day.Billy told Dan about the test and about his friends. Then Dan asked to see his rock.
“Oh,I lost my rock!”said Billy.
“Relax(放松),”said Dan,“I have it right here. The whole point of this was to show you that you could get good grades and friends.”
“So Idid allof this on my own?”asked Billy.
“Yes,”said Dan.“Now let's go home,‘Lucky.’”
