“咚咚咚……”这是倒计时表演。二千零八个鼓手，用手敲击着似鼓又不是鼓的乐器，还能发出白色的亮光。这个方阵好似多米诺骨牌，一下子从这边亮到了那边，又在一瞬间从那边亮到了这边。突然，整个方阵从上空看变成数字倒计时。三十、二十、十、九……每一下都是那么令人激动，令人吃惊，为什么会出现这些闪闪发光的数字呢？
看！那天空中出现了二十九个脚印，象征着二十九届奥运会的举办。这时，在场地中心，出现了一张画卷，真是一个奇迹。这幅奇妙的画卷展现了中国的灿烂文明。水墨山水画、古诗、茶、文房四宝、太极、四大发明，都一一展现。最有趣的是四大发明之一——活字印刷。一个个小盒子，上面刻着中国最早的文字。后来，一个个小盒子上下伸缩，成了从古至今的三种“和”字。最后还冒出了一朵朵桃花，绽放着笑脸，美极了！
当二百多个国家的运动员入场后，是最为精彩的圣火传递。当李宁拿着奥运火炬，“飞”上了天，在铺满祥云的“路”上奔跑着，他跑过的“路上”，是火炬在各地地区传递的许多精彩片段，李宁把火炬台点燃，熊熊圣火在燃烧时，全场一片欢呼。
