(Text 6)
W:Hi,David.Haven't seen you for ages. How are you getting along with your work?
M:Hi,Susan. Not so well as to be expected.I've left my position.I can't bear the rudeness of my boss any longer.
W:What are you going to do then?
M:No idea.Anyway,I've got to think about it seriously. And you?
W:I've been very successful as a dancer.I like this kind of life.It is so exciting.
M:You can't do that for ever.
W:No.But I've decided to open a dance school once I've moved to the top.Alot of young dancers need better training.
M:That's a wonderful idea.
(Text 7)
W:I can't decide whether to go to university or get a job. What's your opinion?
M:Well,if I were you,I would go on studying.
W:But I don't even know what to study.
M:I advise you to major in economics.
W:That's what my parents want me to do.
M:You should take their advice. They know what's best for you.The more you learn, the better job you'll get.
W:But my friends will have jobs and have a lot of fun while I'm spending all my time doing reading and writing.
M:But if you go to university, you still have time for fun.
W:What you say makes sense.I'll think it over. Thank you for your advice.
(Text 8)
M:I think I was very lucky to get that job.Now we are able to live in a little village.
W:Ah,but it won't be alittle village forever. This is a developing area. There will be more people here in about five years'time.
M:Yes,but there won't be any factories.Just two or three office buildings, and they will be far behind that woodland over there.
W:How did you sleep last night,by the way?
M:Very nice.Never slept better.It was so quiet!
W:I didn't sleep too well.I couldn't get used to the silence. The only noise I heard last night was some birds'singing at about two o'clock in the morning.
M:Well, the silence was wonderful for me.
(Text 9)
W:Robert,you play the guitar,don't you?
M:I used to.But I haven't played quite some time.I don't really have time these days with all my studies. Why do you ask?
W:I'm trying to organize a group to play at some parties on weekends. We still need a guitar player.
M:Well,I don't know. But your idea sounds fun to me.
W:Oh,it will be.I'm more or less in charge of things,so if you want to give it a try, you're in.It's as easy as that.Besides,it's a GREat chance to get out and meet people.
M:But I haven't practiced for a long time.I don't know ifIremember any songs Iused to play.
W:Don't worry about that.I just thought I'd ask you to try and join us sometime when we were practicing. We'll be practicing for a few months before we give performances.
M:OK,I'll have a try.
W:I'msure youcandoit.Anditwillbe fun,too.
