动词填空
“动词填空”题主要测试考生掌握和运用动词的能力。动词是英语句子的核心，当然也是各类考试的重点之一。竞赛初一年级主要考查一般现在时be动词的用法、实义动词（重点是第三人称单数以外的动词）及个别情态动词、助动词的用法。
“动词填空”主要出题方式是“根据句意，用所给动词填空（或根据对话或短文内容，填写所缺动词）”。初一组因没有复杂的时态，所以动词形式的确定主要依据句子主语的人称和数。
1．be动词：
（1）一般情况：根据主语的人称和数便可确定。如：
This is a desk．These are oranges．
I am a student．You are a teacher．
We are good friends．She is in Team Five．
（2）并列主语，不管是名词还是代词，都要用are。如：
Lucy and Lily are sisters．
Tom and I are in the same grade．
He and she are all thirteen．
（3）There be结构主语在There be之后，be动词的形式取决于 be后主语的数，但如果是并列主语时，be的形式则取决于离它最近的主语。如：
There is a ball under the table．
There are some pictures on the wall．
There is a table and two chairs in the room．
There are two chairs and a table in the room．
（注意：选择疑问句也需依主语而确定be动词形式。如：Is she eleven or twelve？）
2．含有情态动词和助动词的句子中其后的实义动词无变化。如：
I can't find my sweater．
Could you help me，please？
You must look after your things．
3．实义动词：主语不是第三人称单数时，动词无变化；主语是第三人称单数时，动词词尾要加-s或-es，具体情况与名词单数变复数相同。如：
You look like Wang Fang．
The woman looks like our teacher．
